Mixing Fabrics

Today I’m trying a whole new look with some newly thrifted pieces. As you know not a fan of leggings but these I would wear more like pants because they’re super cool! I’ve always wanted pleather pants to give outfits that extra oomph! Last week this Lululemon wrap scarf-poncho was consigned at the store and it was so unique I had to have it and give styling it a whirl!

I look through the leggings at Value Village occasionally when I go but usually they are super tiny, really worn or very bright patterns. I often don’t have luck when I go thrifting specifically for an item, conveniently I was looking for a swimsuit (and found one!) and also spotted these bad boys. From Dynamite, a really nice sturdy fabric that as my employee observed, blend almost seamlessly into my boots!

Its kind of a cool look, simple and easy to style.

The Sign of Defeat

White BlazerI say this at least once a day, women need to dress better. I love this quote I recently found by Karl Lagerfeld and I think it basically sums up my feelings about our society’s love of Lululemon.

“Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants.”

Yoga pants, athletic wear, sports wear, warm up pants, running shoes… what do all these things have in common? Fitness! Are the women wearing these things every day for work, for shopping, for errands – doing what you would classify as “fitness”? Sadly we are now a society that is lazy, too busy and sloppy. At least when it comes to getting dressed in the morning. Continue Reading

Fun Fashion Finds!

1. Banana Republic – I have been eyeing this for weeks, just love the colour and style. Its ridiculously light weight too, but sadly, not worth $29.99!

2. This black dress has also been catching my eye but its a matter of not knowing where I would wear such a short dress! But I love the unique details a la Lady Gaga. Very cool piece.

3. Charlotte Russe – Super sweet little sheer top with ruffle detail. This extremely bright coral colour is my favourite thing right now!

4. H&M – I was browsing quickly through the skirts and noticed this very flowy navy blue skirt (much darker than the picture shows) and instantly thought… “Hey! I can make this into a high waisted skirt!” Then I looked at the tag and realized it wasn’t vintage. Oh well!

7. YA – I was first attracted to the colour and silky feel, but upon pulling it out of the rack I notice its a very unique style top too! Only $5.99… can’t go wrong!

8. Naked Zebra – Aside from the fact that I adore the name of this label, this top is such a beautiful style. The rich purple with sheer layering and minimalist shoulder straps… beauty!
