Double the Excitement

whitedress Now this is a story. When you think, yeah I probably shouldn’t go thrifting because I was just there and odds are there is nothing new and definitely nothing I need. Well it was a long day and I needed to unwind! (that’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!) So I popped into the Village and perused the dress rack to discover a gorgeous white dress with a crochet top section, drawstring and beautiful lines. This dress was brand new with the tags still on, a brand Chelsea I believe, if only I had written it down before chopping out all the labels… wasn’t a brand or company I had ever heard of. It was $14.99 which normally I wouldn’t bother with but I thought what the heck, it was completely me I just had to know.

turquoisedressI take a few steps down and wouldn’t you know it, a second dress identical with tags as well in my absolute favourite shade of rich turquoise! I snatched that one up to on the chance that the first one fit. I only have one word to describe these dresses: perfection. Adjustable straps? Check. Crochet details? Check. Shapely design? Check. Favourite two colours? Check. I was blown away I didn’t think again about not having a coupon I was buying these two straight up because I would never find anything so beautiful and so comfortable. To this day they are my favourite, although I haven’t worn the turquoise out yet the white is definitely the easiest dress to accessorize!

*Update: I tried out the turquoise, LOVE IT!

Love Forever 21

FOREVER21 There are two brands that always seem to capture my eye, Forever 21 and H&M. There is something about their colours and prints that are so captivating and unique. More often than not if I’m searching through racks and engaged by a floral top, its always one of these two brands! This look is one of my new favourites. My coworker had brought in this blazer by Forever 21 for consignment, it was love at first sight. The colours, the print the intricate little bead details… just beautiful.

Willow & Clay

Willow & Clay This sleeveless knit overtopper/vest by Willow & Clay came into the store last week and normally I wouldn’t have looked twice at it but there was something about how soft and detailed it was that pulled me in. Beautifully designed and exceptionally unique. Although I’m not crazy about how short Streetwear Society makes their skirts, I did fall in love with this lace one a week or so ago and this is my first time wearing it out. I wanted a simple yet stylish look today, so I downplayed my usual bright colours and opted for the less-is-more outlook. The blouse is by Smart Set, a slightly deeper shade of ivory paired with a rich caramel brown belt and matching necklaces. And for a dash of fun I chose my fleshtone sparkle flats!

Banana Republic Cardigan

Zemanta Related Posts Thumbnail On Wednesday this week Value Village was offering an exclusive member-only 50% off sale on select merchandise which in this case was winter wear. I was not looking for anything in particular, in fact I only stopped in to kill time before a dinner date. I tried on a few coats as they had some really bright coloured leather jackets on the rack today – most notably a hot pink one! I found another that was a dark brown both were cropped, or as I would call it the “biker” style.

Sadly both were very small, no way my arms would fit down those sleeves! Not to mention the insides were badly marked up with marker, pen and shredding in the lining. Really wasn’t impressed with the interior quality, the outer was not too bad, definitely wearable. But the next thing that brought it down was the price tag – I’ve spent $20 on leather jackets before, but they were practically mint. These were shredding and marked up and they were asking $39.99. For this sale that would have brought them down to $20. Still… not worth it.

I did however find a sweet little cardigan to go with my growing collection (for $3 how can you go wrong?!) – I’ll soon have enough useable colours! A light peach Banana Republic with a sheer silky trim. Very cute! I’ve started wearing this sort of palette recently so it would be an excellent fit to the wardrobe.

Today’s Daily Digs features this new cardigan – paired with a grey/dark purple paisley dress (I would never wear it as one!), grey leggings and finished with a thin woven belt. Because of the somewhat shocking -16 degree weather this morning I elected for something a little more layered that I could wear with boots. I am not 100% sold on this dress/top thing of mine – picked it up on a half price day but it really has no wow factor. It has a nice ruffle detail down the front, an elastic waistline and its exceptionally short. Not to mention I very rarely wear such dark colours… suppose I could bring it out more with the purple pumps!
