Grey Linen Pants

Grey Linen PantsTGIF to all the thrift lovers out there! Today’s look is a repeat but I altered these NOA linen pants into capris because the length bothered me. I simply rolled them up to a length I was happy with, tacked with a few pins and then machine sewed the cuffs in place. I felt like adding a cuff made it a little more exciting than a straight hem.

I paired the new capri with an H&M floral blouse which I also altered in a similar way. Often I find our shoppers at the store are rolling their sleeves up, which gets me to thinking about any time I’ve worn a long sleeved top or jacket. I recently altered all of my blazers to be 3/4 length in the sleeve – for this very reason. They are much lighter and more flattering with a shorter sleeve. For this blouse, the long sleeve didn’t roll due to its light silky nature – so I finally decided to chop off the excess and add a hem.

And lastly, finished this fun outfit with a mini belt, flip flops and statement necklace!

A Little Sea Green

Sea Green Top Originally this morning I was going for a more formal look with a high waist skirt and blouse. I tried two different skirts before deciding they were either too short & tight or completely the wrong style. As it’s such a specific item I have not successfully found the ideal high waist skirt. One day I shall find you!

Instead of a dressy day it’s a casual one with my beloved blue-hand-staining yoga jeans, nude flats and my super cheap Ardene blouse! Love the colour and how light the fabric is. Nothing too special about today’s setup except for my hairdo that is, put it all in miniature braids last night to give my hair some excitement. It’s interesting!

An Old Favourite

Sheer Floral Tunic I tell you what, I have had this dress for so long I have no idea where I got it, what the label is or which way is the back or front! A one of a kind number that’s sheer but a touch short with the slip that I have presently but it works quite well with just a pair of leggings. The leggings however are probably a form of what the girls call “jeggings” these days, a thin stretchy pant with a faux denim print. Quite comfy I’m not going to lie! To make the look a little more feminine and flattering I paired it with a thick warm brown belt and light peach tank top underneath to give it some pop.

My Style

Lately I have been trying to put a label on the wardrobes of those around me and deciding what their “style” would be. It occurred to me I don’t have a name for mine or taken the time to even sit down to think about my closet in such a way. I’ve never been one to divide my closet and colour palette based on the season or the weather outside. I love my dresses, I’ll wear them in hot sunshine or in blistering winter winds. The difference is typically the footwear and how many layers an outfit requires.

With spring teasing us with its 15 degree sunny afternoons one day, snow flurries the next and nights of minus ten degrees – I find layering the best choice. Cardigans are a staple, as are dark denim jeans. I have both straight leg, boot cut and skinny styles depending on my mood or how the top fits. I still think yoga jeans with no zipper or button are the most ingenious invention!

The Wild Green Necklace

Lime Necklace It’s finally Friday and once again not trying to do anything too crazy with my outfit… except for wanting to wear this awesome lime green necklace for the first time! I picked it up a couple months ago from The Revolving Door along with a few others of equal vibrancy! Its made of all tiny (not to mention irritating) seed beads! And no, I definitely did not make this piece – I don’t have the tolerance for that!

I wanted to wear something rich in colour, potentially blue. I have a couple royal blue dresses that I often wear as tops, as well as this sheer bright blue irregular one I got for $5 at Spoof the last time I was downtown Toronto. The dresses were a failure, one is too big (I have since thrown it in the donate pile) and the other I need more time to sort out the styling of. So I elected to go with the tried and true: sheer blue with basic black tights, cardigan and tank top underneath paired with a thin black sparkle belt.
