Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that’s diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women’s equality.
Collectively we can #BreakTheBias. Celebrate women’s achievement. Raise awareness against bias. Take action for equality.

I am no stranger to the challenges that women face being taken seriously, often glossed over as being “too emotional”, “too sensitive” and frequently spoken to with a tone that would suggest we are completely incompetent. I am proud of myself for always overcoming these obstacles that are placed in front of me. I’m proud that I am not outspoken. I love that my style is unique and all my own.
I acknowledge my strengths and my courage. I am in charge of my own destiny and do not have to settle for abuse, narcissism or sexist remarks. I wear my heart on my sleeve and give all the love I have within me. I get knocked down but I get back up. I laugh when I’m afraid.
At 26 I cut my hair into a “faux hawk” pixie cut. The following year I bought a manual transmission car before learning how to drive it. I up and moved to Medicine Hat & Calgary alone at 27. I began travelling solo at 28. By 30 I purchased my first house and traded in an old SUV for a sporty coupe just for the hell of it. I’ve snorkeled above the Great Barrier Reef. I’ve walked to work in -50C temperatures with my eyelashes frozen solid. I began a hobby of 4:00 am kayaking to watch the sunrise and spending two hours a day lifting weights at the gym. I’ve connected with women and men all over the world that share my passion for thrift culture.
In 2022, I am still pushing forward. I have opened my heart to new love, a new job and a new life with pink hair. Every day I feel more and more impassioned to chase after my dreams and try things I never imagined. Never let anyone stop you, put you down or tell you otherwise. Yes you can! I am woman, hear me roar!
This International Women’s Day I wanted to take a moment and introduce you to a handful of women that never cease to inspire me professionally and in my daily life. While most of these amazing women I have admired from afar and have not met in “real” life, that doesn’t make them any less important in shaping my own path and future.
